Why?

Thanks for visiting.  As I mention at the top, I have a forum for this site, but I had to close it because there were death threats being made.  I left it in place so others can go there and see what the emos have posted there.  It's quite enlightening, to be sure.  I've started a blog so at least people can make comments, share their experiences, and make a contribution to the safety of kids.

One might ask, "Why keep doing this when so many people are calling for your death?"  For me, this really started out as a small site made for the parents of the kids I treat.  There was an incident where a child I was treating nearly died when she tried to commit suicide.  She was a kid that called herself emo, so her mother wanted information on it.  I started with the kids.  I asked some questions, and they pointed me to much of the information that is on this site.  We actually made it part of treatment.  We discussed media influences and how that could affect self concept and thinking.  As a whole, I thought the whole project was quite successful.  Also, I beleive that while the threats are probably sincere, they have little ability to find me or implement any plans.  Also, I have to admit that their attempts to silence me have made me a bit stubborn.  I don't beleive that anyone should give in to the bullies of life.  Whether they are the school yard bully, the office loudmouth, or the obsessed MCR fan, we can not allow then to have power over us.

I've been updating the site quite a bit lately.  This blog is the latest.  I've added many images to the site as well.  After reading so many comments about the site being full of lies, what better to disprove that than adding what the emos post in their forums and sites?  Their words and pictures speak more strongly than I ever could.

Please comment in the site, this entry, anything you like!  This blog is for parents, educators, professionals, or anyone who is legitimately concerned about this issue.
